Waiting on Wednesday (12)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, showcasing an upcoming release that you’re looking forward to. Here’s mine for this week! Link leads to its Good Reads page.

I have to admit, the cover is what initially drew me to this title. I’m loving the rise of mermaid stories in YA books right now. Seriously can’t wait for this one to come out.

Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs
Release date: May 10, 2011 from Walker Books for Young Readers

Summary from GoodReads:
Tempest Maguire wants nothing more than to surf the killer waves near her California home; continue her steady relationship with her boyfriend, Mark; and take care of her brothers and surfer dad. But Tempest is half mermaid, and as her seventeenth birthday approaches, she will have to decide whether to remain on land or give herself to the ocean like her mother. The pull of the water becomes as insistent as her attraction to Kai, a gorgeous surfer whose uncanny abilities hint at an otherworldly identity as well. And when Tempest does finally give in to the water’s temptation and enters a fantastical underwater world, she finds that a larger destiny awaits herβ€”and that the entire ocean’s future hangs in the balance.

So what are you guys waiting for this week? Let me know!

That’s funny, because the cover is what turned me off this book. But upon closer examination, it’s on the TBR list.

What am I waiting on? Hmm. There are so many out that I still haven’t got to and so many more coming out this month. I think what I want in my hands right now is Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. (Can’t have it until December) Next would be Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick (Only have to wait for October for that one) Guess I’ll be doing a lot of waiting.

    Thanks for the post.

This one is also on my to-read list. I think I found out about it from last week’s WoW, but like you said, love the rise in mermaids! Refreshing after so many vampires. I love that tattoo on her back. And I like that Kai may or may not be a mermaid–maybe something else entirely. It sounds very promising :). Great choice!

PS – love your choice in books. Countdowns for Vanish & Supernaturally :)!

PPS – I really like the background of your blog. Did you make that image? The wings there sort of remind me of Aprilynne Pike’s Wings series.
