Stacking the Shelves {1}

stacking the shelves 7 Comments 10th August, 2013

So this is my first time participating in Stacking the Shelves! Seems like IMM died, but this is a great alternative. I’m not going to bother listing and taking pictures of books I’ve bought since October since my buying habits have not changed despite the reading and blogging slump. I bought quite a few books, physical and ebook. I’d probably need multiple posts to cover them all. So I’ll just start with what I acquired this week!

  • Hidden {Firelight #3} by Sophie Jordan
  • A Touch Menacing {Touch Trilogy #3} by Leah Clifford
  • Sky on Fire {Monument 14 #2} by Emmy Laybourne
  • Mirage {Winterhaven #2} by Kristi Cook
  • Siege and Storm {The Grisha #2} by Leigh Bardugo
  • Elegy {Hereafter #3} by Tara Hudson
  • Vortex {Insignia #2} by S.J. Kincaid
  • The Dark Shore {The Atlanteans #2} by Kevin Emerson

from the library

  • Dance of the Red Death {Masque of the Red Death #2} by Bethany Griffin
  • The Mephisto Kiss {The Mephisto Covenant #2} by Trinity Faegen

for review

~ Thanks to EgmontUSA through Edelweiss! ~
  • Monsters {Ashes Trilogy #3} by Ilsa J. Bick
  • White Space {Dark Passages #1} by Ilsa J. Bick
  • The Shadow Prince {Into the Dark #1} by Bree Despain

And that’s it for me this week! What did everyone else get?

You got some fabulous books this week. Siege and Storm was a really entertaining read and I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy.
I haven’t heard the best about Dance of the Red Death, but I hope you enjoy it.
    Happy reading! 🙂

I couldn’t find your contact information so I’ve posted here. My name is David Meredith and I very recently came across your book blog. I have just released a novel – The Reflections of Queen Snow White – on in the Kindle Store this past October and would be happy to send you a complimentary copy if you would be interested in reviewing it. I have included the dust cover synopsis below. If you are interested, just reply to this e-mail and I will happily send you your free copy right away. Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response!

What happens when “happily ever after” has come and gone?

On the eve of her only daughter, Princess Raven’s wedding, an aging Snow White finds it impossible to share in the joyous spirit of the occasion. The ceremony itself promises to be the most glamorous social event of the decade. Snow White’s castle has been meticulously scrubbed, polished and opulently decorated for the celebration. It is already nearly bursting with jubilant guests and merry well-wishers. Prince Edel, Raven’s fiancé, is a fine man from a neighboring kingdom and Snow White’s own domain is prosperous and at peace. Things could not be better, in fact, except for one thing:

    The king is dead.

The queen has been in a moribund state of hopeless depression for over a year with no end in sight. It is only when, in a fit of bitter despair, she seeks solitude in the vastness of her own sprawling castle and climbs a long disused and forgotten tower stair that she comes face to face with herself in the very same magic mirror used by her stepmother of old.

It promises her respite in its shimmering depths, but can Snow White trust a device that was so precious to a woman who sought to cause her such irreparable harm? Can she confront the demons of her own difficult past to discover a better future for herself and her family? And finally, can she release her soul-crushing grief and suffocating loneliness to once again discover what “happily ever after” really means?

Only time will tell as she wrestles with her past and is forced to confront The Reflections of Queen Snow White.

Yeah I definitely spent more that week than I probably should have. Sometimes I just can’t help myself.
