Wow, this is a blast from the past. I don’t know if anyone still follows this blog, but hopefully I can change that over the next few months. I can’t believe I started this blog back at the end of 2010. Though it’s been a few years since I did anything regularly with it. I haven’t been reading as much since I stopped, but I have approximately 98 series I’ve started, half of which have all the needed volumes to finish out and published. I think that would be a fun project this year, to try to finish as many series as possible! But in between also read a stand alone novel for a short break.

The first series I’ll be starting with is Hereafter by Tara Hudson. I’ve already reread Hereafter and I’ve started rereading Arise. After that the only book left will be Elegy! I’ve already reviewed the first two so I won’t be writing anything for them again, but I’ll link to them soon for a refresher. I’m not going to be posting regularly just yet, but hope to within a few months. I’d like to get ahead some with written reviews. I hope to be up and running completely by my birthday in April. Until then, even though it’s not quite January yet, I hope everyone has a happy new year!

So I’m currently behind on my Goodreads challenge to read 100 books by the end of the year. I know I need to read at least 50 by the end of June which means between now and then I need to read 30 books. I’ve already chosen which 30 I’ll be reading, but I wouldn’t mind help in deciding which of those 30 will be next! I’m already starting  The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder tonight so whichever book wins will be read after that!

Natalya knows a secret.
A magical Faberge egg glows within the walls of Russia’s Winter Palace.
It holds a power rooted in the land and stolen from the mystics.
A power that promises a life of love for her and Alexei Romanov.
Power, that, in the right hands, can save her way of life.
But it’s not in the right hands.

17934493 Divided by day and night and on the run from authorities, star-crossed young lovers unearth a sinister conspiracy in this compelling romantic thriller.

Seventeen-year-old Soleil Le Coeur is a Smudge—a night dweller prohibited by law from going out during the day. When she fakes an injury in order to get access to and kidnap her newborn niece—a day dweller, or Ray—she sets in motion a fast-paced adventure that will bring her into conflict with the powerful lawmakers who order her world, and draw her together with the boy she was destined to fall in love with, but who is also a Ray.

Set in a vivid alternate reality and peopled with complex, deeply human characters on both sides of the day-night divide, Plus One is a brilliantly imagined drama of individual liberty and civil rights, and a fast-paced romantic adventure story.

Making friends has never been Elise Dembowski’s strong suit. All throughout her life, she’s been the butt of every joke and the outsider in every conversation. When a final attempt at popularity fails, Elise nearly gives up. Then she stumbles upon a warehouse party where she meets Vicky, a girl in a band who accepts her; Char, a cute, yet mysterious disc jockey; Pippa, a carefree spirit from England; and most importantly, a love for DJing.

Well it’s been a very long time since I last did one of these. I’ve bought quite a few books over the last few months, but I won’t be featuring them all in one post. I’m going to be spreading them out over two or three StS posts. Some of them I may or may not have already read. On to the books!

Teardrop (Teardrop #1) by Lauren Kate // Purchased, not read
Tandem (Many-Worlds Trilogy #1) by Anna Jarzab // Purchased, not read
Perfect Ruin (The Internment Chronicles) by Lauren DeStefano // Purchased, not read

Thankfully this year I haven’t had any problems with a reading slump, but right now I seem to be at a writing slump. I have read plenty of books lately, but I just can’t seem to write down anything about them. I read purely for enjoyment, so sometimes trying to be analytical is already kind of hard for me. One thing I plan to do is to just keep some post it notes handy and write something down when I come across something that I either really like or don’t like, or something that makes me stop and think.

But is there anything else you guys think I might be able to do? If you’ve ever had a review writing slump let me know! I want to know what did or didn’t work for you.

An epic romance with glittering magical elements, TSARINA is swirling with beautiful prose, stark Russian contrasts, and lavish visuals perfect for fans of Libba Bray's A Great and Terrible Beauty. Romanov Russia is churning with rebellion. But Natalya holds a secret. It hums in her hands and warms her fingers with its magic, with the mystic power pulsing at its center? the power to protect the Tsar's true love. It is the secret of the Constellation Egg, Will it keep her safe?

This sounds like a magical historical read and I absolutely cannot wait for it. I’ve always been interested in the Russian royal family and can’t wait to read a story about a member I don’t know as much about, even if apparently the author takes certain licenses with his story. But that’s what is so great about fiction, you can change things!

So I love readathons and there’s one going on right after Valentines Day. This is perfect because it will be a nice way to unwind after the craziness of Valentines Day. I work in a floral department at a grocery store, so yes, it will definitely be crazy. I want to try to aim for at least one book a day, for seven books total minimum, as well as one short story a day. I haven’t decided which books and stories I’ll read yet, but I’ll announce them when I make the progress post.

If you’re interested in signing up head on over to the host blogs, Novel Heartbeat and/or Confessions of a Bookie Monster!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hi everyone! I don’t know if anyone still checks this place or not, I’ve been very bad at coming back to blogging. I keep intending to and then I don’t. Although admittedly this summer I got promoted to being a department manager at work which is much more stressful than just being a lowly minion. But now that I’m back in the swing of things and actually reading again I thought it was time. So in order to help motivate me to get back into blogging I’ve decided to do some work on my actual blog. This includes moving to WordPress yesterday. I’ve been thinking all this last year about doing it, but I’ve heard some people have had so many issues doing it so that kind of scared me. But thanks to Ashley at Nose Graze and her awesome guide I’ve made the switch. Now I’m going to be playing around with settings and getting things organized and up and running. And building up a backlog of reviews to get me started since I’ll still be reading while I’m doing all this.

I’m very excited about getting back into the blogging community and can’t wait to reconnect with people and meet tons of new people! It’s a bit scary though at the same time because I am an introvert. I have a hard time actually making connections, but I want to work on that. And to get started on that, here’s a new bloglovin link you can use to follow Starry Sky Books now that I’m on wordpress! I don’t think the old one will work anymore.
