Waiting on Wednesday {26}Tsarina by J. Nelle Patrick
Published by Penguin Group USA on 2014-02-27
Genres: Country & Ethnic, Fairy Tales & Folklore, Historical, Love & Romance, Military & Wars, Young Adult
Pages: 352
Goodreads
An epic romance with glittering magical elements, TSARINA is swirling with beautiful prose, stark Russian contrasts, and lavish visuals perfect for fans of Libba Bray's A Great and Terrible Beauty. Romanov Russia is churning with rebellion. But Natalya holds a secret. It hums in her hands and warms her fingers with its magic, with the mystic power pulsing at its center? the power to protect the Tsar's true love. It is the secret of the Constellation Egg, Will it keep her safe?

This sounds like a magical historical read and I absolutely cannot wait for it. I’ve always been interested in the Russian royal family and can’t wait to read a story about a member I don’t know as much about, even if apparently the author takes certain licenses with his story. But that’s what is so great about fiction, you can change things!

This book just sounds absolutely amazing. Jungle with technology that’s greater than what we have today. Futuristic books are always fun to read. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one, I’d probably devour it in one day.

The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson
Publisher: Scholastic
Release date: March 2013

Four hundred years ago, the world ended. And now, on the coast of what was once called Brazil, women rule in the legendary pyramid city of Palmares Três. The city’s Queen only cedes her power to a man once every five years — to a Summer King, whose story will grip the city like a fever.

For June Costa, art is everything. Her brilliant creations — from murals and holograms to a delicate pattern of lights in her skin — have impressed (and irritated) her classmates and teachers alike. Her dream is to win the prestigious Queen’s Award, and the instant fame and success that come with it. It’s a dream she never questions — until she meets Enki. Enki, the newly-elected Summer King, is the hottest thing in Palmares Três. But when June sees Enki, she sees more than piercing amber eyes and a lethal samba: She sees a fellow artist.

Together, June and Enki will create art that Palmares Três will never forget. They will add fuel to a growing rebellion against the government’s strict limits on new tech. And June will fall deeply, tragically in love with Enki.

Because like all Summer Kings before him, Enki is destined to die.

Waiting on Wednesday {24} A Fractured Light

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, showcasing an upcoming release that you’re looking forward to. Here’s mine for this week! Link leads to its Good Reads page.

I haven’t done one of these since January! I thought it was about time I did one, since I definitely have books I’m waiting for. Like this week’s. I absolutely loved A Beautiful Dark, so I really cannot wait until A Fractured Light comes out. Now, last time the girl on the cover was in a white dress, and this time she’s in black. That’s interesting, because it’s indicative of where the story might be going. For the most part though, I just want more Asher! Can it be September already please?! =P

To Rosa Alcantara, the exotic world of Sicily, with its network of Mafia families and its reputation for murder and intrigue, is just that—exotic and wholly unknown. But when her life in Brooklyn begins to fall apart, she must travel there, to her family’s ancestral home, where centuries of family secrets await her.

Once there, Rosa falls head over heels for Alessandro Carnevare, the son of a Sicilian Mafia family, whose handsome looks and savage grace both fascinate and unsettle her. And when Rosa encounters a tiger one night—a tiger with very familiar eyes—she can no longer deny that neither the Carnevares nor the Alcantaras are what they seem.

Hidden caves, dangerous beasts roaming the hills, and a history of familial bloodlust mean that Rosa can’t trust anyone. Torn between loyalty to her family and love for their mortal enemy, Rosa must make the hardest decision of her life: stay in Sicily with her new love…or run as far and as fast as she can.

Partials by Dan Wells
Release date: February 28, 2012
Publisher: HarperCollins

The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic in training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws threaten to launch what’s left of humanity into civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will discover that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Dan Wells, acclaimed author of I Am Not a Serial Killer, takes readers on a pulse-pounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.
