Love for Books Readathon Sign Up

lfbreadathon

So I love readathons and there’s one going on right after Valentines Day. This is perfect because it will be a nice way to unwind after the craziness of Valentines Day. I work in a floral department at a grocery store, so yes, it will definitely be crazy. I want to try to aim for at least one book a day, for seven books total minimum, as well as one short story a day. I haven’t decided which books and stories I’ll read yet, but I’ll announce them when I make the progress post.

If you’re interested in signing up head on over to the host blogs, Novel Heartbeat and/or Confessions of a Bookie Monster!

Beat the Heat Readathon

Hey everyone! I just discovered this readathon hosted by Auntie Spinelli Reads and Phantasmic Reads and thought it would be perfect to participate in! I’m kind of late joining the game but I still have one week left. A few of the books I plan to read during this time are

  • Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
  • Timeless by Alexandra Monir
  • The Mephisto Kiss by Trinity Faegen
  • The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver
  • Bright Young Things by Anna Godberson
  • Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick

I don’t know if I’ll get to all of them by the end, but I’ll definitely be trying! I’ll update this post once a day until the end with my progress for each day. I haven’t signed up for Bout of Books later this month yet, but I’ll definitely be doing that soon! Great timing with the readathons this month. 🙂

Monday & Tuesday

I ended up being too stressed out due to an impending visit from corporate at work to read both of these days.

Wednesday

Finally managed to get reading in today, finished Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard. Now that that corporate visit is over and everything is back to normal I should be able to get back to reading everyday.

Time Devoted to Reading
I will be reading every day, and since I’m not working full time this week that will give me more reading time! I also plan to try for two books a day on the two days off I have from work, so hopefully I can do that.

Books to Read

  • A Blue so Dark by Holly Schindler
  • Circle of Silence by Carol M. Tanzman
  • Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
  • On a Dark Wing by Jordan Dane
  • Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
  • Wake by Amanda Hocking
  • Lightbringer by K.D. McEntire
  • Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Additional books to choose from in case I finish all of those or I’m not in the mood for them will include:

  • Speechless by Hannah Harrington
  • Embers and Echoes by Karsten Knight
  • Crave by Melissa Darnell
  • The Mephisto Kiss by Trinity Faegen

Bout of Books 4.0 Starting Line + Goals

It’s already that time! Bout of Books starts tomorrow, and I’ve decided what to read finally. I’m going to be continuing series I’ve already started but hadn’t gotten around to reading the sequels. If I finish all 7 books I’ve chosen, I’ll be able to finish two series, get caught up on one, and get halfway caught up on another. I should also mention that this will throw my May TBR out of whack, since none of these are books I planned on. But I’m also not in the mood for the books I planned on either so here we are.

Captivate by Carrie Jones
Spells, Illusions and Destined by Aprilynne Pike
Body & Soul by Stacey Kade
The Throne of Fire and The Serpent’s Shadow by Rick Riordan.

Didn’t get as much read today, too tired from having to be at work at 6am. Hopefully tomorrow.

Saturday 5/19

I kind of lost steam for the last three days. I did some reading, enough to finish another book, but that’s it. But I did finish a third today, so at least that’s something!

May 2012 TBR Pile

It’s already the fifth month of this year! Where has time gone? It’s just flying by at the speed of light. Anyways, this month is going to be an awesome month. So many great books are coming out, a couple of which I plan to read immediately, and others of which will probably wait a while. I don’t have money to buy all of them unfortunately. 🙁 But here is what I plan on reading this month!

My last book of April is 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad, and I’ve decided to read Grave Mercy next because I’m hearing awesome things about it, and Bekka at Pretty Deadly Reviews suggested reading it as soon as possible. That may change though because both Insurgent and Wentworth Hall come out on May 1st and I have them pre-ordered at my local bookstore. I may resort to a coin toss or Random.org to tell me which to read first.

I’m also really excited for Revived, and would you look at that cover?! It’s a beautiful book. These last three books are ones I’ve had on my shelf for a while, and I’m trying to do a mix of both brand new and somewhat older books each month. Not that they’re really old, they were all only released last year. I’d like to finally get around to them though because they were all ones I’d been eagerly anticipating before they released.

So that’s the official list of what I plan to read for next month. I have, however, signed up for Bout of Books 4.0, which is happening between May 14th and 20th. So I may finish all 8 books ahead of time and have time for an extra book or two. I won’t decide now which ones those will be though, I’ll just pick randomly when that time comes!

The Second Harper Readathon!

I was reminded today that I had this planned for tomorrow, so here it is. The readathon starts at 9am, wherever you are, and ends Monday at 9am. And you do not have to be participating in the overall reading challenge for the month to read in the readathon! The only rule is of course to read YA Harper books from their YA imprints.

I’m not using a linky for link up this time, if you decide to participate and make a post about it, just comment with link!

For me, my only goal is to read Masque of the Red Death. And if I finish that I’ll move on to The Selection.

So get your books ready and get plenty of sleep! Tomorrow will be a fun reading day. 🙂

Bout of Books Readathon 3.0 Wrap Up

Bout of Books

And here is the wrap up post! I didn’t even do one with the last Bout of Books so I’m making progress.

Here is what I finished during the readathon:
– Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
– Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Allison Moulton
– Possess by Gretchen McNeil

And here are some books I started but didn’t get very far into yet:
– The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong
– A Million Suns by Beth Revis
– The Selection by Kiera Cass
– Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris.

All in all, 3 books in a week for me is pretty good, considering I’m averaging 1 to 2 a week lately. So overall I’m proud of my progress. Hope everyone else had fun and met some of their goals, if not all!

Harper YA Challenge Readathon Start Line!

All right everyone! You’re probably sleeping now, but if not, get started on your reading. At the time that this goes up, I will either be asleep in bed or reading Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris. Now remember, even if you’re not participating in the overall month long challenge, you can still participate in the readathon as long as the books are YA from HarperCollins!

I will update this post only once tomorrow with my midday progress at noon. Then I will do a separate wrap up post and announce when the second Harper readathon will be. Write it down so you’ll know! You can link up your update posts in the linky below:

Here’s what I plan on tackling:

Midday update:

currently reading: Possess
# of pages read: 109
# of books read: 0

So I think everyone forgot about this readathon, because it doesn’t look like anyone is participating? Oh well, I’ll be letting you guys know about another one tonight. I woke up about 8 and started reading about 9, but there have been a few distractions so I’m still working on my first book of the day! Realistically I’m hoping to finish 2. 3 would be nice though.

Bout of Books Readathon 3.0

Bout of Books

I’m giving the week long readathon another try. This will be my only update post. Books I’ll be reading:

  • Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
  • Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Allison Moulton
  • Dark Eyes by William Richter
  • A Need so Beautiful by Suzanne Young
  • The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong
  • Partials by Dan Wells
  • Slide by Jill Hathaway

And if they arrive before the readthon ends, I will also be trying for these:

  • A Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zink
  • After the Snow by S.D. Crocket

Wings of the Wicked is a hefty book, coming in at 500+ pages. I’d already started it before the readathon, but have gotten most of my progress in today, with over 100+ pages. I’m nearly halfway done, I’m hoping I can finish this pretty soon so I can get more books in.

I didn’t do any reading yesterday, because I worked a 6-3 shift and was too tired to read during any of my breaks and after I got off, since I had only gotten 4 hours of sleep. And then about 6pm I fell asleep for the next 13 hours. I’ve done a little bit of reading today, around 100 pages. But now I’m in three books as well. I plan to get more reading done tomorrow though, since I have this readathon plus my Harper readathon tomorrow.

The update for 1/15 will have it’s own post since it’ll be a wrap up post tomorrow night.

Wrapping Up 2011 Readathon!

Jessie at Remarkable Reads is hosting a year-end readathon to finish up books that need to be read before the new year! It starts today and runs until midnight of Dec. 31. This is the post I will be updating in every day so as not to flood your reads throughout the holiday weekend. I will tweet every day with a link to this post if you’d like to see my progress! I’d like to completely finish all of the books on my list, so I have nothing carrying over from the old year to the new. My initial list is only 5 books, but there are a couple after that as well in case I have time to get to them! Here’s the list:
  1. Cinder by Marissa Meyer (Starting @ pg 74)
  2. The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
  3. Illuminate by Aimee Agresti
  4. Touch by Jus Accardo
  5. Faery Tales & Nightmares by Melissa Marr

And in case I finish all 5 of those:

  • Darker Still by Leanna Renee Hieber
  • Tris & Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison
