Wow, this is a blast from the past. I don’t know if anyone still follows this blog, but hopefully I can change that over the next few months. I can’t believe I started this blog back at the end of 2010. Though it’s been a few years since I did anything regularly with it. I haven’t been reading as much since I stopped, but I have approximately 98 series I’ve started, half of which have all the needed volumes to finish out and published. I think that would be a fun project this year, to try to finish as many series as possible! But in between also read a stand alone novel for a short break.
The first series I’ll be starting with is Hereafter by Tara Hudson. I’ve already reread Hereafter and I’ve started rereading Arise. After that the only book left will be Elegy! I’ve already reviewed the first two so I won’t be writing anything for them again, but I’ll link to them soon for a refresher. I’m not going to be posting regularly just yet, but hope to within a few months. I’d like to get ahead some with written reviews. I hope to be up and running completely by my birthday in April. Until then, even though it’s not quite January yet, I hope everyone has a happy new year!
Guys, I usually hate doing these kinds of posts, but I’m doing one now, just because you the readers deserve to know what’s going on. I’ve been given more responsibility at work the last two months while the department manager was out on medical leave (I work in a grocery store produce department), so I was one of two acting managers for the department. But now she’s back and there’s more to do than ever, especially this week with the fourth. Also add in the fact that today is day five of giving up soda, so my caffeine intake is drastically reduced. It’s been leaving me so tired that I’ve been able to do very little reading for the last week or so, except for some manga. Manga is definitely not hard to read, even when you’re tired. I know I was supposed to have a couple posts up the last few days, and I apologize profusely for failing in that. Reviews for those books will still go up. I’m just sorry that they’ll be late.
Since this week is going to be such a busy week, I’m going to not worry about blogging this week. But I will be back on Sunday first thing and hopefully can get into the swing of things again.
Sorry for the lack of posts the last few days guys, I’ve been sick and not feeling up to much. I actually had to leave work early yesterday and call in today. I hope to get back at this soon though. See you all in a few days!
I’ve been changing around my look every now and then, never really happy with what I have. And at this time I can’t afford to pay for a custom design, so when I stumbled upon Delicious Design Studio and noticed they had a couple of free designs I immediately pounced! I love the simplicity of it, and the colors. While I still eventually would like to save up for a custom design, I think I’ll be very happy with this design in the mean time.
What do you guys think? Do you like it? Hate it? Let me know!
So it has been about a month since I decided to leave the blogging world. Well guess what? I’m missing it. I know my reading has suffered. I’ve been wracked with indecision on what to read next since I finished Arcadia Awakens (awesome book) on March 8. Since then I’ve only read one other book (Anna Dressed in Blood, very good) and four volumes of manga (Sailor Moon).
So I think I’ll be coming back to the blogging world. But just a warning: I will not be posting every single day. That’s part of what turned me off last time. I was pressuring myself that I need to post every day, forgetting quality over quantity. I haven’t decided all the particulars just yet of what I plan on doing here, but I do know one thing for sure: I will not be accepting ARCs for review. That was another reason why I stopped blogging. All the craziness associated with ARCs. Although I do have one that I was sent right before I stopped blogging, so I will read and review that one, but from now on, I’ll only be reviewing finished copies. I’d rather do that anyway, just because nothing will change from the time my review is written to the time the story is published, since it’s already been published.
If there’s anything you’d like to see on Starry Sky Books, drop me a comment here! While this blog is primarily an outlet for me, I’d like to know that I’m doing something for my readers as well, so any suggestions are welcome.
I’ll be seeing you guys soon!
I love reading, that will never change. But right now reading feels like a job, and I don’t want it to be a job since it is my way to escape into other worlds. So I’ve come to the decision to quit blogging, for now. I did not come to this decision lightly, or quickly. I’ve been toying with it off and on since probably November. Maybe even a little earlier. Every now and then something would pop up that would rekindle the excitement for blogging, but those occasions are few and far between now. I doubt I’ll ever start again, but I will keep the blog up for a while for anyone who wants to read the reviews. They’re also posted on Shelfari and Goodreads though, so I’ll probably delete the blog eventually.
I want to thank all of you who’ve read my blog and stuck with me, you guys are awesome. It truly was a great experience. I’ll still be around on Goodreads and Shelfari, as well as Twitter. I’ll still go around reading blogs I follow, because how else will I get the scoop on all the books out there? Thanks to the publishers as well, for allowing me the privilege of reading advance copies for review.
Happy reading everyone. 🙂
Some of you may have noticed that my posts have been decreasing every week. I’m currently in a blogging slump. I’m getting to a point where I’m not having fun with this right now. I think I’ve been pressuring myself too much to do so many things, blog related and not blog related. My reading hasn’t suffered thankfully though. But I’ve decided to take a break.
This will last 3 weeks, which will give me time to organize things and do other stuff that’s been put on the back burner for a while. Hopefully by the end of the three weeks I’ll be back with plenty of reviews ready to go and a fresh outlook on everything.
This break will not, however, include my participation in the March Madness Middle Grade challenge I’m co-hosting with Benji at The Non Reluctant Reader. Any posts for those will go up on the blog as needed.
Tomorrow is the huge internet blackout day in protest of both SOPA and PIPA. To find out more and to know what you can do, head to this website: http://sopastrike.com/.
So obviously, there will be no post for Thursday January 18.
And Merry Christmas, for those who celebrate! I’m taking tomorrow and Monday off, but Monday I will be working on blogging stuff and reading. Keep an eye out on Tuesday, because I’ll be having my ONE YEAR BLOGOVERSARY!!! giveaway go up, as well as my 1,000 follower giveaway. I waited on the latter so I could do both together, even though it’s been around a month since I hit 1,000.
Hope everyone has a good holiday!
I’m sure you guys have seen a few of these over the last few weeks. While I don’t think Blogger has any plans to get rid of GFC for blogger blogs, it’s always good to know your options.
- I’ll have the GFC widget up for as long as it is available.
- There’s also the option to subscribe by email! I definitely recommend this.
- And there’s always RSS, which can be added to your Google Reader I believe, or any other type of RSS reader.
All options are available on the right sidebar!
